2024-25 Men's Basketball Regular Season Awards

In the 2024-25 regular season the SUNY Orange Colts finished with a record of 24-4 with an 8-0 record in Conference play.  

Averaging 91.9 points per game, Orange is 8th overall in NJCAA DII Men's Basketball for points per game. This season the Colts have six different categories where they are among the Top-10 teams in the NJCAA.

To finish off the their fantastic regular season, four Colts were named to the Region XV DII All-Region Team and Coach Tom Rickard was named Region XV DII Men's Basketball Coach of the Year for the third consecutive year. 

Sophomore Jabari Phillip finished off his amazing season being named to the 2025 Region XV DII Men's Basketball first team and was recognized as the Region XV DII Men's Basketball Player Of The Year.  Jabari leads the Colts in total points scored with 583, field goals made with 234, shooting percentage with 61.7%, offensive rebounds with 107 and is one of three Colts who started and played in every game this season.  Jabari finishes the regular season as the 11th highest point scorer, made the 5th most field goals and was 6th in offensive rebounds in NJCAA DII Men's Basketball.

Sophomore Marquis Gill capped off his historic year being named to the 2025 Region XV DII Men's Basketball first team. Marquis finished as the team leader in minutes played, 3PT%, FT% and finished second in points scored, field goals made, assists and steals. On Feb. 19th Marquis Gill broke the Orange record for three pointers made in a career with 177. Marquis finished 10th in minutes, 10th in 3PT shots made and 7th in FT% in NJCAA DII Men's Basketball.  Gill has started in every game this season and has missed just one game in his career as a Colt.

Sophomore Daniel Lans finished the season being named to the 2025 Region XV DII Men's Basketball second team. Lans was a defensive standout all year averaging 3.5 steals per game putting him as the NJCAA DII Men's Basketball steals leader standing with 98 steals for the 2024-25 season.  Lans leads the Colts in steals and assists, and is among the team's top three in points, shooting percentage, field goals made and rebounds. 

Sophomore Mathew Shea finished the year being named to the 2025 Region XV DII Men's Basketball second team and the Region XV Sportsmanship Team. Shea was all over the court this season, leading the Colts in blocked shots and rebounds while finishing 4th in total points, minutes, field goals made and assists.

For the third year in a row, Head Coach Tom Rickard was named the Region XV Men's Basketball Coach of the Year.  This season Coach Rickard reached the milestone of 250 wins after the Colts defeated Westchester Community College on Feb. 11th.  With an all-time record of 253-98, Coach Rickard and the Colts finished the 2024-25 regular season with a record of 24 wins and 4 losses ranked #19 in the NJCAA National Poll.
