The Colts started off the double header on offense as 2B Josh Martin started things off with the first up to the plate and was the first to reach base due to a walk. Martin then advances to second base from a ground ball to shortstop, Martin later scored from second base after the Riverhawks dropped a fly ball allowing Derek Sherman to take first base.
With some great defense and pitching the Colts were able to hold their lead until the 4th inning and in the top of the third inning SS Derek Sherman gave the Colts a 3 run lead. In a 2-0 count Sherman did not hesitate to swing at a good pitch as he smashed the ball into left field for a two run double scoring B. Saldana and J. Martin and that was unfortunately the last runs that the Colts would score this game as they fell just score losing 5-3 in a close contest game where the Riverhawks only earned one more hit than the Colts but were able to score on all 5 hits.
Game #2 of the day the Colts will be looking to even the score for the day and win one of two games on that Sunday afternoon and for the second game in a row the Colts were able to earn a 3-0 lead and wasn't until the 4th inning where the Riverhawks were able to gain an advantage and score 3+ runs in back to back innings bringing the score to 7-3 as the Colts fall to 0-5 to start out the season. Brian Saldana finished the game with a phenomenal stat line where in 4 at bats he singled through the right side and scored the first run of the game and followed by a soaring homerun to center field to give the Colts a 2-0 lead.
