The SUNY Orange Colts took on the Lions of Raritan Valley for a Sunday afternoon double header as the Colts were still looking to secure their first win of the season. The main story for this season has been the fact that the Colts have had their troubles playing outside on the actual baseball field due to the inclement weather so they are behind in that aspect as other schools in other states and places where there is better weather have been practicing outside for weeks while Orange is yet to get some live practice on their home field.
Through the first 7 innings of game #1 the Colts were able to tally 7 hits. But unfortunately were unable to get the job done and lost the first game against Raritan Valley 6-2.
#1 Derek Sherman continues on his success hitting the ball currently sitting at a .458 Batting Percentage with 1 Homerun and has 5 doubles through 7 games. Sherman finished the game earning just one hit in three at bats making him go 1/3 with a double.
#25 Josh Martin had a great game as he earned 2 hits in 4 at bats, having him go 2-4 with a Homerun and an RBI.
Game #2 was a closer affair as the Colts found themselves behind after Raritan was able to score 8 runs in the 3rd inning after the Colts were able to earn their first lead in the top of the 3rd scoring 3 runs. In the 6th inning the Colts were able to score 2 more runs making the score 8-5 and it remained that way until the end. With a final score of 8-5 the Colts fall to a record of 0-7. In this game there were 5 recorded RBI's from the COlts coming from Derek Sherman, Andrew Reda, Brian Saldana, Richard Bosser and Aundre Rick
#1 Derek Sherman had a fantastic performance as he was able to earn 3 doubles in 4 at bats. Sherman finished the weekend going 4/7 and all 4 of those hits were extended into doubles.
