On a beautiful windy Saturday afternoon, the Colts earned their first win of the season in a comeback victory as they found themselves down 5-2 going into the 6th inning and seemed to have a ton of trouble in the batter's box. That was until LF #23 Andrew Reda stepped up to the plate with a runner on first and hammered the ball deep into Left Center Field where he was able to round the bases for a homerun and bring the score to 4-5 in the top of the sixth inning.
Following the offensive success the Colts were able to hold off the Lions to zero runs thanks to the great pitching from Kurtis Martin who stepped in for Dylan Craparo in the sixth inning and SS Derek Sherman who closed out the sixth inning with routine ground ball play to first base. In what was the last chance the Colts have if they want to win this game. After some great hitting by 2B Josh Martin who did not hesitate on swinging on the first pitch that he liked and clubbed a center field ground-rule double to bring runners to 2nd and 3rd gives the Colts a great chance to take the lead with only one out in the inning. With the Colts on their what could be their last defensive appearance of the game in the bottom of the 7th inning P Kurtis Martin will have to dig deep and close out the game without allowing any runs and in the best fashion possible Martin closes out the first game of the double header with an emphatic strikeout to give him and the Colts their first wins of the season with a final score of 6-5.
The second game was nothing but exciting as the Colts scored the highest number of runs in a game with 15 total runs scored in just seven innings of gameplay. The Colts were not shy in this game as there were 8 different players who recorded an RBI. Some other notable plays, Derek Sherman, Richard Bosser and Josh Martin (2) all recorded a double, Brian Saldana had a massive game hitting a Triple a homerun and recorded 2 RBI's. Gabe Alfonso and Andrew Reda also recorded home runs in the game.
LF #23 Andrew Reda had a fantastic Saturday afternoon as he recorded two homeruns in two games and in 8 at bats up and recorded 4 hits and 5 Runs Batted In.
As they completed the sweep over the Lions of Nassau taking Game #1 6-5 and Game #2 15-10. The Colts will have a quick turnaround and will be playing against CCBC Catonsville for a 12:00 and 2:30 scheduled gametime.
