Colts Win Home Opener Against Monroe - Bronx
Back and forth 9 innings game where the Colts came out on top.
The SUNY Orange Colts took on the Express from Monroe - Bronx in a Monday afternoon showdown. To start out, the Colts found themselves behind in the scoring column but were able to gain an advantage by taking their first lead of the game with a score of 7-5. Entering the 8th inning, with the score tied at 7 runs, after letting up two runs the Colts managed to score 6 due to some great base running and a double from #24 Kurtis Martin to blow open the game and give the Colts a 13-7 lead. With what could be the last and final inning of the game the Colts have a 6 run lead and Pitcher #24 Kurtis Martin is on the mound ready to close out the victory. Earning his second win of the season Martin closed out the game striking out one batter and only allowing one hit. #11 Gabe Alfonso pitched three innings in relief allowing only one run and one hit while striking out three batters.
The Colts amassed 12 hits in the game. #1 Derek Sherman, #2 Richard Bosser and #23 Andrew Reda each drove in two runs. #27 Brian Saldana collected two hits in four at bats and #14 Francisco Velez and #25 Josh Martin was super aggressive on base and recorded multiple stolen bases.
Catcher #14 Francisco Velez had a fantastic performance going 4-5 recording 4 hits for singles and 4 RBI's, #2 Richard Bosser also had a great game going 2-4 with two singles, one that drove in two runs and also got hit by a pitch.
