On Sunday April, 21st the Colts fell just short in game one to the Skylanders of Sussex Community College by a score of 6-5, the Colts got on the board first scoring in the bottom of the second inning after a Derek Sherman sacrifice fly ball scoring teammate Biran Saldana from third base. Followed by two more runs in the bottom of the third inning from the likes of Brian Saldana who hit a hard ground ball to shortstop for a single driving in Andrew Reda and Kurtis Martin from 2nd and 3rd base. The Colts were unfortunately unable to maintain the lead as they trailed 5-3 until the 7th inning of the game where they were able to cut the lead to just one run before their momentum came to a halt ending the game. Losing 6-5 in a close hard fought game pitcher Gabe Alfonso took the loss for the Colts going for 3.1 innings allowing four runs on seven hits while striking out four batters and walking just one. Ben Intili started on the mound for the Colts; he gave up one hit and two runs over two-thirds innings pitched while striking out four batters and walking three. The Colts recorded 8 hits as a team with Brian Saldana bringing the pop to the middle of the lineup going two-for-three with two runs batted in. Brian Saldana and Andrew Reda both collected two hits in the game for the Colts.
Game two was not like the first as the Colts gave up six runs in the second inning of the game which helped the Skylanders defeat the Colts 10-2. The Colts scored two runs in the third inning thanks to Derek Sherman and Richard Bosser each collecting one drive singles bringing in a teammate for a run. The Colts had their troubles against the Skylanders only collecting six hits as a team and all sorts of troubles on the defensive side. Brian Saldana pitched five innings in relief, the right handed pitcher allowed four hits and just one run while striking out five batters and walking one. William Treco earned the loss for the Colts pitching one and two thirds innings allowing nine runs on just five hits while striking out just one batter and walking two.
The Colts will look to turn things around as they travel to SUNY Adirondack on Thursday April 25th for a 5:30 and 7:30 away game and then travel to Western Connecticut College the following day. The Colts will be returning home on Sunday Apr, 28th to take on the Lions of Nassau Community College.
