Colts work a split with Monroe - Bronx Express

In game one the Colts took care of business in under seven innings, with a score of 12-1.
The Colts opened up the game scoring the first two runs after they went 3/3 on singles in their first three at bats of the game. The Colts then followed up by adding to their lead in the bottom of the second inning after a dropped third strike Jadin O'Neil grounded into a fielders choice, Brian Saldana singled down the left field line and Jonas Kerzner also singled down the left field line each driving in a run making the score 6-0.
The Colts continued their success and scored six runs on just two hits in the bottom of the fourth inning, after two hit by pitches and one walk the bases are loaded with one out and Dylan Williams singles on a ground ball to the left fielder scoring the first run of the inning. Kaen Smith drew a walk, Matt Nixon reached on an error, Ben Intili singled and Jackson Atwell singled all scoring one run to make it 11-0.
Brian Saldana earned the win for the Colts. The pitcher surrendered five hits and one run over five innings of play while striking out four batters and walking two. Saldana also provided pop in the middle of the lineup, leading the Colts with three runs batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 2-3 on the day.
In game two the Colts fell to Monroe Express by a score of 12-4. Monroe Express opened up the game scoring in the top of the first inning after hitting four two out singles to give Monroe a 2-0 lead. The Colts were able to answer back with a run of their own after AJ Grant singled on a ground ball to right field with the bases loaded driving in J. Kerzner.
Monroe University added to their early lead in the third innings after a costly error which gave Monroe a four run lead as the score stood 5-1. In the bottom of the third inning the Colts showed signs of life as their first three batters got on base with B. Saldana doubling on a line drive to center field scoring J. Atwell and J. O'Neil to cut the lead back down to two. The Colts would then score on a sacrifice fly to make the score 5-4.
Kody Best took the loss for the Colts, the righty pitcher went 2.1 innings giving up five runs (four earned) on six hits, striking out one and walking one. As a team the Colts allowed 13 hits and 12 runs and walked 7 batters.
After going scoreless for the remaining innings the Colts suffer their 9th loss of the season. In this game the Colts piled on 10 hits. AJ Grant, J.O'Neil and B.Saldana each collected two hits, Saldana and Grant finished with two runs.
The Colts will open up the April as they take on the Skylanders of Sussex County Community College. Tuesday April 1st starting at 4:00 PM EST
