SUNY Orange Colts vs Middlesex College Colts
First game in 2025 for the SUNY Orange Colts Men's Basketball team

The SUNY Orange Colts faced off against the Colts of Middlesex College, this is the first time since 2019 that the two teams are facing off against each other. So far this season neither team has been accustom to losing as SUNY Orange stands at a record of 10-1 and Middlesex holds a record of 13-3. In this highly anticipated matchup both teams will look to come away with a win in hopes of earning a National Ranking.
To open up the game Middlesx was the first to score shortly followed by a heads up play from Marquis Gill who intercepted the pass for an easy layup on the other end to give the Colts the first points of the game. SUNY Orange would later earn their first lead of the game coming from a wide-open Mat Shea pull up mid-range jumpshot. From this point on the Colts managed to keep their lead for the entire game, with the score standing at 14-11 the Middlesex Colts would go on to have a few miss cues and find themselves trailing by 10 points in less than a TEN second span after Marquis Gill managed to go 4/4 on technical foul shots followed by a steal from Marco Evans that falls into the hands of Gill for a three pointer to make the score 21-11, giving him 7 points scored in an amazing SIX SECONDS leading to Middlesex to take their first timeout of the game. The Colts would go on to have a dominate first half of play outscoring their opponent 37-24 after the first twenty minutes of play are up.
Going into the break Coach Rickard was extremely vocal about how his athletes should not be giving up as many turnover as they are giving away and that they need to be better on missed shots by grabbing the initial rebound.
Coming out of the locker room the SUNY Orange Colts looked ready to end this game, after trailing in the first five minutes of the game the SUNY Orange Colts did not trail in points once they tied and earned the lead. For over over 25 minutes of play the SUNY Orange Colts have managed to maintain the lead with their largest lead being in the second half as SUNY Orange was beating Middlesex 50-30 with under 15 minutes left in the second half. The 20 point lead was the largest lead the Colts have had in this game. With just over ten minutes left in regulation a timeout was called by Coach Rickard and the Colts to give his guys a much needed breather and sub in any fresh legs to close out the rest of the contest.
The SUNY Orange Colts would go on to win this game over Middlesex 76-65 giving SUNY Orange their first win of the New Year. The Colts will look on and prepare for the Broncos of Bronx Community College on Thursday Jan 9th at 7:00 P.M.

Sophomore Guards #1 Marquis Gill and #3 Daniel Lans finished as co-leaders in points for the Colts.
Sophomore Guard #1 Marquis Gill finished with 17 points scored giving him his fourth consecutive game of scoring +10 points. Aside from the shooting Gill also added four rebounds, four assists and two steals to his amazing night.
Sophomore Guard #3 Daniel Lans led the team in field goals made finishing with 17 points on 7/12 shooting. Lans also added seven rebounds, six assists, two steals and recorded the teams only two blocks to complete his star studded night.
Freshman Forward #2 Kassius Paulin finished the game as the leading rebounder for the Colts, Paulin finished the night with his second double-double of the season scoring 12 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Paulin also dished out an assist and came away with two steals.
