Colts vs Skylanders of Sussex County

On Tuesday January 28th the SUNY Orange Colts took on the Skylanders of Sussex County Community College for their last home game for the month of January. This is the first time this season that these two teams are facing off with the Colts standing with a dominate record of 17 wins and 3 losses. Finding a great amount of success up to this point of the season with major contributions from the four sophomore starters who have paved the way, averaging over ten points per game. In this game the Colts took care of business as they outscored their opponent by their second largest point differential this season defeating the Skylanders 97-38.
The Colts scored first in this contest after Fr. Forward Kassius Paulin drained a wide open three pointer coming off a great pass from teammate Marquis Gill. The Skylanders managed to keep this game close to start off until they were forced to call their first timeout of the game after trailing 23-9. Continuing on their push for victory the Colts found themselves with their first fifteen point lead of the game leading 31-15 with under seven minutes left in the first half and despite their large lead SUNY Orange had a lot of success scoring pushing their lead to 31 points as the score stood at 51-20 before the Skylanders scores a last second layup to cut the lead to 29.
Coming out of the halftime break the Colt sat with a comfortable lead but showed zero signs of letting up, jumping out to a 40 lead with over fifteen minutes left in regulation. To cap off their 18th win of the year the SUNY Orange Colts move on to a 18-3 record taking care of the Skylanders and pushing their win streak to five consecutive wins. In this game the Colts starting five were the main contributors to this victory as the five Colts accumulated for 72 out of the 97 points scored as they all scored 10 or more points to help lead SUNY Orange to victory.

So. Guard #1 Marquis Gill led the Way for the Colts scoring 17 points on 6-13 shooting. Gill finished one assist shy of a double double as he had nine assists, three steals and two rebounds.
So. Forward #22 Jabari Phillip finished one point shy of tying his teammate for the leading scorer. Finishing with 16 points on 8-11 shooting and grabbing four rebounds.
So. Forward #24 Mathew Shea led the way for the way for the Colts in rebounds finishing the game with his third consecutive double-double as he now has eight double-doubles on the year. She finished the game with 14 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block.
The SUNY Orange Colts will take on conference opponent the Generals of Sullivan County Community College on Tuesday February 4th
