On Saturday September 7th the Colts took on the Tigers of Queensborough for their first game of the 2024 season as both teams looked to come away with their first win of the season and start the year off with a winning record.
The Colts were the ones who started things off early as they scored the first goal of the game with just 5 minutes into the game coming from sophomore #11 Harrison Coard who buried his first goal of the year with the assist from Edwin Ortega. After Colts scoring the first goal of the game there was a 10 minute standstill where neither team was able to find the back of the net until the 17th minute of the first half where the Tigers tied teh score at 1-1, the Tigers would go on to score 6 more goals in the first half to scoring the last goal of the half to bring the score to a whopping 7-1.
The Colts were unable to respond to the Tigers barrage of goals but they still showed they had some fight left as the Colts scored back to back goals late in the second hald with less than 15 minutes left in the game it was #11 who eas able to get things done once again as he scored both goals after some high quality passes from freshmen Okief Barett and Jonathan Santos as they each got their first points as Colts. This game is the first time in over 10 years (2014-15 season) that a Colt athlete finishes a game with 2 or more goals and 3+ points in a suffered loss.
