Yesterday the Colts took on the Mustangs from Monroe College for a beautiful Tuesday afternoon double header. To start the game the Mustangs got an early one run lead in the first inning before the Colts were able to tie the score after some heads up baserunning from Dawn Grover to make the score 1-1. After the first inning the Mustangs scored two more runs to make the lead 3-1 and were able to maintain and shut the Colts out and up until the 4th inning the Colts were hitless that was until Madeline Brennan stepped up to plate and ripped a single up the middle to score teammate Molly Martin. The action did not stop there as the Colts racked up 4 consecutive hits in the 4th inning and brought in 3 runs while doing so to give the Colts their first lead of the game. After holding the Mustangs to just 1 hit in the last three innings of the Colts went into the 5th and final inning with a 4-3 lead and after a lackluster 5th inning the Colts managed to earn 8 walks and scored a total of 7 runs to close out the game and give the Colts the win by a score of 11-3.
Pitcher Gianna Catletti pitched the entire game earning her 5th win of the season.
At the start of game #2 the Colts were able to earn a 2 run lead in the first inning after a bases loaded walk from Nicole Imhoff to advance a runner and bring in the first run of the game, then Molly Martin singled up the right side driving in Gianna Catletti from third base to bring the score to 2-0. Unfortunately those would be the only runs and hits the Colts tally for the remainder of the game. Despite their struggles inside the batter's box that did not stop the Colts from playing until the final moments. Pitcher Molly Martin pitched the entire game facing 33 batters while striking out three and only walking one; this marks her 4th loss on the year.
