Colts vs Centurions of Bucks County
On Friday April 10th the Colts took on the Centurions of Bucks County Community College. The Colts started game number one off trailing by just one run in the second inning and that was the last and only time the Colts were behind in the scoring column as they defeated Bucks County by a score of 5-1. After going scoreless for the first two innings and only scoring just one run in the third the Colts decided to put the game away. With #9 Catcher/First Base Lindsay Keane is up to the plate with no runners on and a 2-0 count Keane got the signal to swing and did not let it go to waste. For the first time in her collegiate career Lindsay Keane smashed a line drive home run deep over the left field fence giving the Colts their first lead of the game and also starting their scoring spree and after scoring 4 runs in the 4th inning the Colts were able to maintain their lead and win the first game 5-1.
Pitcher Molly Martin earns her 5th win on the year pitching all 7 innings facing off against 25 batters and only allowing 4 hits, Martin struck out 9 batters two of which struck out looking and only allowed one run scored.
Catcher Lindsay Keane was phenomenal behind the plate as she was able to catch 3 batters stealing and allowed no one to reach base successfully all while receiving no applause because it is something she does on a weekly basis.
Game two the Colts took care of things in just 5 innings, with neither team able to score in their first at bats of the game the Colts stepped up to bat in the second inning and went on a 8 run scoring spree with it starting with Molly Martin getting hit by a pitch and then scoring on a Madeline Brennan single and ended with Molly Martin singling to left field scoring teammate Gianna Catletti as the Colts managed to get 13 plate appearances in just the 2nd inning.
Pitcher Madeline Brennan picks up her second win on the year with a record of 2 wins and 0 loses pitching the entire game facing only 19 batters and throwing only 63 pitches. Brennan struck out 5 batters and only allowed Bucks County to get one hit for the game and no runs scored. Brennan also had a great night inside the batter's box earning 2 hits in 3 at bats while scoring once and earning a RBI.
Catcher Jaylee Ramos also had a great day inside the batter's box going 2-2 with 2 hits for singles.
The Colts were amazing on the offensive side of the ball; they managed to record 3 doubles coming from Dawn Grover, Nicole Imhoff and Gianna Catletti. Lindsay Keane hit the weekend's only homerun and there were a total of 9 RBI's (Sorrentino (3), Keane (3), Olivio, Catletti, Martin and Brennan). The Colts will look to continue their success as they travel to Suffolk Long Island to take on the Sharks from Suffolk County on Saturday April 13th.
