Colts vs Titans of Morris County
The SUNY Orange Colts took on the Titans from Morris County. This was the Colts 3/4th game in 2 days and their 6th game since Saturday April 13th. In game one the Colts jumped out to an early lead coming from Molly Martin who hit into a fielder's choice bringing in teammate Dawn Grover to score the first run of the game they were able to score just two more runs coming from a walk with the bases loaded and then a sacrifice fly from Nicole Imhoff which Lindsay Keane was able to tag up from third base and score the third run of the first inning. The Colts unfortunately were unable to hold their lead in the first and after the first inning were trailing by one run with a score of 4-3 and from that point on the Colts were not behind in the scoring column for the rest of the game scoring 7 runs to the Titans 3 for a final score of 10-7. Gianna Catletti collected three hits and a walk in four at bats, Catletti hit her 4th home run in 4 games against three different teams. Catletti also collected one double and one single in the game with three runs batted in. Catletti also had a great day on the pitcher's mound pitching all 7 innings while giving up 7 hits and 7 runs (four earned) while striking out four and walking one.
The Colts had a great game inside of the batters box notching 8 hits as a team while 8/9 batters earned a base on balls for a total of 13 walks as a team. Catletti and Imhoff each drove in 3 runs with Ramos, Martin and Farrell all contributing by driving in a single run. Ramos and Catletti were the only ones who collected two or more hits in the win.
Gianna Catletti earned her 8th win with a record of 8 wins and 3 losses as a starting pitcher.
The second game was a much slower game for both teams as there was just one run scored for the first 4 innings of play and thanks to the likes of Molly Martin who hit a double to drive in Keane and Imhoff and immediately followed by a double from Julia Sorrentino to bring Martin home to make the score 3-1. The Colts scored six runs on seven hits in the top of the sixth inning where 4 of the 6 recorded doubles were hit and the teams only triple in the game from Molly Martin driving in a single run, Madeline Brennan and Gabriella Olivo each doubled to drive in a single run, Jaylee Ramos doubled scoring two runs and Dawn Grover singled scoring one run all in the 6th inning.
Molly Martin earned her 6th win on the year for an even record of 6-6. Martin gave up 10 hits and five runs over seven innings while striking out three and walking just one batter.
This game was another great performance inside of the batters box as the Colts amassed 14 hits with four different athletes collecting multiple hits ( Lindsay Keane (2), Gabriella Olivo (2), Madeline Brennan (2) and Molly Martin (3)) and in the two games against the Titans the Colts managed to strike out just 4 times in 63 at bats.
The Colts move on to a record of 18 wins and 10 loses and are on an 8 game winning streak the longest streak they have had all season. They face off against Sussex County Community College on Thursday April 18th this will be their last away game before a 5 game stretch of home games.
