Colts vs CCRI Lady Knights
The Colts got their long awaited rematch against the undefeated Lady Knights from the Community College in Rhode Island. On a cloudy Sunday afternoon the Colts found themselves trailing the first 5 innings of the game with a score of 3-1. The Colts were later able to secure the victory late in the game thanks to a Nicole Imhoff double to center field driving in the leading run. In what was an emphatic comeback victory the Colts gave the Lady Knights their first loss of the year and from the start of the game you could see the competitiveness and drive to win from both teams. In this game the Colts found their grove late and it couldn't have happened in a better fashion they managed to collect 3 hits for doubles Jaylee Ramos started things off driving the ball into center field for a double followed by Gianna Catletti earning a base on balls and then back to back doubles from Dawn Grover driving in Ramos and Catletti to score and then finished off with Nicole Imhoff bringing Grover around the bases. Pitcher #24 Gianna Catletti earned the win for game one. The starting pitcher gave up five hits and just three runs over seven innings of play, Catletti struck out 8 batters and only walked one batter. Catletti came up big for the Colts striking out 2 of the last three batters to secure the win giving them their 13th win in a row and their 23rd win on the season.
Dawn Grover drove the middle of the lineup, leading the Colts with two runs batted in and finished off going 2-for-3 with a double. Jaylee Ramos also collected two hits one of which was also a double. The Colts despite the score had a great game inside the batter's box as they were coming in contact with a lot of balls but were unfortunately unable to convert most of them into hits. Finishing off with a total of 7 hits as a team and just 4 runs batted in they more than made up for it as they only struck out 3 times in 23 at bats.
Game two was much like the first as the Lady Knights were able to jump out to a 2-0 lead in the very first inning and were able to hold it for the entire game. With a score of 6-1 the Colts suffered their 11th loss on the year also ending their win streak. The Colts were just unable to convert hits into runs as they tallied just 5 hits and no walks with 3 batters striking out. Gabriella Olivo and Jaylee Ramos were a one two punch in the lineup as they both went 2-for-3 with Olivo hitting the teams only double. Gianna Catletti drove in the teams only run for the game on a sacrifice fly ball scoring Gabriella Olivo. Pitcher #4 Molly Martin took the loss pitching 7 innings allowing 10 hits and 6 runs (three earned runs) while striking out four and walking three batters. The Colts will look to move on from their loss as they have a short recovery window playing Dutchess Community College on Tuesday April 23rd.
