Colts vs Titans of Morris County
On Wed April 24th the SUNY Orange Colts took on the Titans of Morris County and in walk off fashion the Colts put a stop to the Titans late game scoring fiasco. Going into what fans thought was the final moments of the game with the Titans up to bat one last time trailing 9-2, putting up early numbers for the Colts as they scored a run in the first five innings of the game started off with a Lindsay Keane RBI followed by Dawn Grover who singles on a ground ball to shortstop driving in the second run in the bottom of the first inning and up to the fourth inning the Colts held Morris to zero hits in the game which is when they scored their first points of the game. The Titans jumped out late in the 7th inning of the game and scored seven runs on seven hits to tie the game at 9-9 and thanks to Catcher Jaylee Ramos who caught a runner trying to steal third base to end the half-inning and get the team the chance to end the game once and for all. Ramos was then the first to step up to plate in the bottom of the 7th and did what she did all game, having great patience at the plate earning a free base followed by back to back singles from Gabriella Olivo and Gianna Catletti. With bases loaded two outs bottom of the 7th inning with a 1-0 count Nicole Imhoff hits a shallow fly ball over the first baseman's head driving in teammate Jaylee Ramos to score the winning run and make the score 10-9. The Colts had a great game inside the batter's box in game one as they went up to bat 30 times as a team and accumulated twelve total hits and seven runs batted in without striking out a single time. Nicole Imhoff led the Colts going 3-for-5 and the game winning RBI, Dawn Grover, Jaylee Ramos and Lindsay Keane each drove in two runs for the Colts and Gabriella Olivo and Caroline Farrell both finished with two hits in the game. Molly Martin and Jaylee Ramos hit the teams only two doubles for the game.
Pitcher Gianna Catletti earned the win for the Colts; she allowed nine runs on thirteen hits over seven innings pitched. In 36 batters faced Catletti struck out eight and did not give up any walks helping the Colts secure their 26th win of the year.
Game two was not like the first as the Colts went on a scoring spree earning 10 runs in the bottom of the second inning after there were six recorded doubles and one home run to make the score 10-1. Lindsay Keane was the first to get on base in the second inning hitting a single on a 2-1 count followed by Dawn Grover, Nicole Imhoff, Gabriella Olivo, Jaylee Ramos, Gianna Catletti each getting on base with a double with Olivo, Ramos and Catletti going back-to-back-to-back doubles with Lindsay Keane back up to the plate for the second time in the same inning and smashed her third home run of the year over the center field fence bringing in two runs. With a final score of 18-1 the Colts pick up their 27th win of the season as they face off against Bucks County on Wednesday May 1st.
Game number two the Colts came out swinging as there were nine recorded extra base hits out of 14 total hits as a team and 15 recorded RBI's. Led by Dawn Grover and Nicole Imhoff who each recorded 3 hits in the game, Dawn Grover finished the game batting 1.000 going 3-for-3 with two doubles and a triple and one walk while driving in three runs and Nicole Imhoff led the team with 5 RBI's finishing the day going 3-for-4 with one double batting behind one another were a huge one-two punch to help secure the win. Gianna Catletti and Lindsay Keane also had a great game in the batter's box, Catletti recorded two hits both of which hit for a double while recording 3 RBI's and Lindsay Keane finished with 2 hits with one home run and also had 3 RBI's.
Pitcher Molly Martin warned the win for the Colts, allowing five hits and just one run over five innings pitched, Molly struck out two batters and walked one.
