Colts go 1-1 against the Blues of Brookdale Community College

On Saturday March 29th the SUNY Orange Colts hosted the Blues of Brookdale Community College. In a two game series the Colts finished 1-1 after taking the first game in an exciting walk-off fashion.
With the game tied at 2 in the bottom of the seventh inning So. #9 Lindsey Keane smashed a solo home run deep into left field to take home the 3-2 victory.
In this game both teams had strong performances inside the pitching circle. The Colts struck out eight batters and Brookdale sat down seven. The Colts were the first to score in this game coming in the bottom of the second inning after Emily Ketcham was able to earn a walk scoring making the score 1-0. The Colts later extended their lead to 2-0 after a Gianna Catletti doubled on a line drive to center field driving in a run.
The Colts managed to hold Brookdale to six scoreless innings. In the top of the seventh inning Brookdale rallied back and tied the game at 2-2. With one last chance to secure the victory the Colts were one run away from making that happen. First to the plate is CF Hannah Moulton who smashed a fly ball into center field which was caught for the first out, next to the plate is C Lindsey Keane who worked her way into a full count. With a 3-2 count Lindsey Keane put the team on her back and hits a walk-off home run to give the Colts the 3-2 victory.
Gianna Catletti earned the win for the Colts, pitching 7.0 innings while allowing six hits and two runs, striking out eight batters and just one walk.
In Game two the Colts fell to Brookdale by a score of 4-1.
Brookdale Community College was the first to score in this game coming from a single that scored two runs early in the first inning. Brookdale continued to add to their total after scoring in the third and fifth inning to give the Blues a 4-0 lead over the Colts.
The Colts scored their first run of the game coming in the bottom of the seventh inning off of a Caroline Farrell sacrifice fly to center field to advance Sydney Benware from third to home to make the score 4-1.
Colts pitcher Sydney Benware took the loss, the starting pitcher went all seven innings, allowing four runs on nine hits, striking out eight batters and walking none.
Caroline Farrell led the team with one run batted in. Emily Ketcham went a perfect 3-3 at the plate to lead the Colts in hits.
The Colts welcome the Skylanders of Sussex County Community College on Tuesday April 1st for an afternoon double header.
