Colts vs Hawks of Rockland County
The SUNY Orange Colts took care of business once again in high fashion as they defeated the Hawks of Rockland County Community College 3-0. Last season the Colts defeated the Hawks in both appearences by a set total of 3-1 and 3-0 as they look to continue their winning streak for the 2024 season to 2-0.
In the first set the Colts went on a scoring spree as freshman Lily Noteboom had a fantastic game serving the ball as she brought the score from 4-2 to an amazing 10-2 before a service error that ended the Colts offensive scoring spree. After being outscored 9-1 in the last 10 points Rockland was forced to take their first timeout of the game and hopefully put a stop to the momentum the Colts had but fortunately for the Colts everyting was going their way and there seemed to be no stopping of momentum as they cruised through set number one with a score of 25-13.
Set number two was much like the first set as the Colts were able to get some early points coming from some great serves followed by some great defensive play on the reciving end. The Colts were able to jump out to a large lead with a score of 18-11 the Colts were playing lights out and were playing their best Volleyball on both ends and after a ton of back and fourth play from both teams doing everying in their power to prevent and score a point set number two comes to a close with a score of 25-16 the Colts managed to get an early lead and were looking to close out the match early with a sweep.
The third and final set was much like the others as it looked as if the Colts were in the driveres seat all match as the lowest scoring differentials was a one score difference of 6-5 as that was the first and only time that the score was within one point of eachother as the Colts would soon increase the lead to a score of 13-9 before going 10-1 run bringing the score to 23-10 coming from the phenomenal serving of Lily Noteboom and Emily Deserto. With a score of 24 -12 Rockland County made their last serve that went out of bounds to give the Colts their 25th point and complete their sweep.
The Colts will be travelling to Westchester Community College to take on the Vikings on Tuesday September 17th at 7:00 EST.
