Colts vs Hawks of Rockland County
On Tuesday September 24th the Colts traveled to take on the Hawks of Rockland County where they were able to finish things off in 4 sets, defeating the Hawks 3-1. After winning sets number one and two the Colts were unable to secure the sweep losing set three 25-17. They were able to secure the win in set 4 winning 25-18 to take home the victory. With this win Orange is 2-0 against the Hawks this season.
In the victory the Colts recorded a season high in Kills and Assists and tied their season high in points for a match. As a team they finished with 42 kills, 40 assists and 56.0 points. The Colts took care of business defeating the Hawks in the first set with a score of 25-12 and were able to continue their success into set number two with a 2-0 lead after winning by a score of 25-19. In the third the Hawks won 25-17 denying the Colts a match sweep.
In set number four the Colts were able to finish off the job and secure the victory, winning 25-18. Three athletes recorded double digits in Kills or Assists.
So #5 Gabriella Dandrade finished the game as the team leader in Kills. The sophomore from Middletown recorded 12 kills in 24 attempts and also led the team in total points with 14.0. She finished one Kill shy of a career high after which was 13 kills against FIT last season.
Fr #8 Araceli Ospina had a fantastic game. The freshman from Wallkill finished with 10 kills on 29 attempts while leading the team in assists. She also recorded a season high 24 assists finishing one assist shy of tying teammate Lily Noteboom who recorded assists in a game with 25 assists against Dutchess County Community College earlier this season.
Fr #6 Lily Noteboom also had a great game on the court. The freshman from Goshen finished the match with 7 kills on 29 attempts, 12 assists and 7.0 points.
With this victory the Colts move on to a 4-1 record as they look to make it 6-1 for the month of September when they face off against Hostos Community College and Bronx Community College on Saturday September 28th.
