Colts take 3rd Place in Region XV after defeating Dutchess 3-1
The SUNY Orange Colts took on the Falcons of Dutchess County in what was the Colts first time traveling to Dutchess to face the Falcons this season.
In a 3-1 victory the Colts get their redemption victory over the Falcons after losing at home on Sept. 19th. The Colts were able to get the best of the Falcons in the first set coming away with a dominating set victory winning 25-16. In the second set the Falcons were able to get the best of the Colts after a back and forth set where the Colts lost set number two 25-23. In set number three the Colts bounced back and win the third set with a score of 25-22 to give them the 2-1 lead going into the fourth set.
In the fourth set the Colts were able to ride the momentum they carried from the third set and were able to come away with the victory after a 25-21 set to give the Colts a 7-1 record through their first 8 games.
In Tuesdays game against the Falcons all 7 Colt athletes tallied 10+ in either Kills, Assists or Digs. This victory is the most amount of points that the Colts have scored this season in an entire match.
Fr #4 Grace Malzhan led the team in digs with 24, she also added just one kill and two service aces for a total of 3 points.
So #5 Gabriella Dandrade finished the game tied as the leader in kills for the match after tallying 11 kills while also adding four service aces, 5 digs, two blocks and career high 18.5 points.
Fr #6 Lily Noteboom made a name for herself on the court as she finished the game with an amazing 24 assists while also adding two kills, 8 digs and 3.0 points
Fr #8 Araceli Ospina was all over the place finishing with 11 kills, 9 assists, two service aces, 5 digs and 1 block for a total of 15.0 points
Fr #14 Camryn Benjamin also had a great game up front as she finished wit h10 kills on 23 attempts while blocking two shots and finishing with 12.5 points.
Honorable Mention to #7 Alivia Torres who finished with 23 digs and #9 Emily Deserto who finished with 14 digs.
The Colts will be facing off against the Fashion Institute of Technology and Borough of Manhattan Community College on Saturday October 5th for the Colts second double duel of the season. They will be traveling to Borough of Manhattan Community College for Noon game as they will face off against the Tigers of F.I.T.
