SUNY Orange Double Dual vs Bulldogs of Bergen Community College and the Red Hawks of LaGuardia Community College
On Saturday October 19th the SUNY Orange Colts traveled to Dutchess County Community College to take on the Bergen Bulldogs and the LaGuardia Red Hawks in a double dual.
In their first match the Colts played against the Bulldogs where the Colts would suffer their first 3-0 loss of the season. Losing all three sets by a score of 25-16 and 25-17 in sets two and three to give the Colts their fifth loss of the season. Going into this game the Bulldogs had a record of 15 wins and just 1 while achieving a 14 game win streak as the odds were not in favor for the Colts.
For just the second time this season the Colts finished with their season low kills achieving just 22 kills and will look to put this game behind them. Despite the loss the Colts fought through adversity and there were some athletes who finished with an accomplished stat-line.
Middle Hitter Gabriella Dandrade finished the game with 9 kills making her the teams leader. Dandrade also added one assist, three service aces and had a team high 12.5 points.
Libero Alivia Torres has been amazing on the receiving end this season being targeted 11 times during serves and only had two errors. Torres finished with 14 digs, one assist, one service ace for 1 point.
Araceli Ospina finished as the assist leader for the Colts. Ospina finished with 6 kills, 11 assists, one service ace, four digs for a total of 7 points.
With this loss against the Bulldogs of Bergen the Colts fall to a 9-5 record.
In the second match of the double dual the Colts took care of business defeating the Red Hawks in dominating fashion. In a three set sweep victory over the Red Hawks the Colts move on to a 10-5 record through their first 15 games of the season. In this match the Colts had a total of 39 kills on 132 attacks for a .144%, 38 assists, nine service aces, 49 digs, two blocks and 50 points. In what was an overall team win the Colts had a few players who finished with an amazing stat-line.
Araceli Ospina finished as the kills leader for the Colts. Ospina finished with 12 kills on 21 attacks finishing nearly 50% of sets that came her way. Ospina also added four assists, one service ace, eight digs and a team high 13 points.
Lily Noteboom finished as the assist leader for the Colts, Noteboom finished with a season high 27 assists beating her previous high of 25. Noteboom also added four kills, five service aces, four digs for 9 points
Emily Deserto finished as the Dig leader for the Colts. Deserto finished with five kills, one assist, 14 digs and 5 points to help bring SUNY Orange home with the win.
The Colts move on to a 10-5 record and will take on Rockland Community College in round one of the Mid-Hudson Conference Tournament
